To remain true to God’s Word, we must acknowledge the spirit realm and God’s power for us to deal with it. Consider these verses:
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. … (2 Cor. 10:3-5)
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. … (Eph. 6:10-18)
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith … (1 Pet. 5:8-11)
Always remember that though the enemy is strong, “the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 Jn. 4:4). As leaders it’s our responsibility to steer the church toward God’s power as the Source of victory. Check out the Steering the Church Toward God’s Power Leadership Guide which looks at nine different means God uses to empower us, including spiritual weaponry.
